About the Program

Hofstra in LA offers students a unique immersion experience in one of the most significant centers of culture and entertainment in the United States – Los Angeles, CA.

Experience the heart of the entertainment industry – from entry level to executive

Meet industry leaders and Hofstra alumni working in all facets of the entertainment industry – television, film, radio, publicity and arts and entertainment journalism

Network with recent Hofstra graduates and learn about how they transitioned to the West coast

Make valuable connections for summer internship and employment opportunities

Cost:   $1,500
Includes: Airfare, accommodations, select group meals, transportation while in LA, and group events

Additional Information

There are a limited number of need-based scholarship and activity grant opportunities available.

If a student wishes to make their own round-trip airfare and airport transportation arrangements, the cost of the program will be $1,000 (accommodations, meals, activities). Students making their own round-trip travel arrangements must arrive on time at the destination listed on their itinerary.

Events and activities include admission fees, networking receptions, and all other special programs scheduled for the week.

As the Herbert School has invested significantly in this program, all students who register must agree to attend all meetings and activities scheduled as part of the “Hofstra in LA” program.


  • To be considered for the “Hofstra in LA” program, a major GPA of 3.0 or above is highly preferred and you must possess good judicial standing.

  • Undergraduate students must have junior or senior status by the end of the Fall 2016 Semester (60 or more earned credits).

  • Graduate students must have completed the first year of studies or at least 12 semester hours.

  • Complete and return all three parts of the application, along with a current résumé, to Dean Marlowe (Room 301 Herbert School, adria.marlowe@hofstra.edu).

Students selected to attend will be notified by Friday, November 11, 2016.

A $500 non-refundable deposit is due upon your acceptance as a “Hofstra in LA” participant.
